Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
In short
- Flags Easy Learning does not collect personal data. We have no servers of our own and no accounts. The app sends only anonymous usage statistics (for Explorer profiles only) and technical crash summaries, and never personal data.
- Progress, settings and player names are stored only on your device.
- No ads and no tracking. The app uses a single privacy-focused analytics service, TelemetryDeck, which receives no personal data.
- No usage statistics are sent while a Little Explorer plays.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple and are behind a parental gate.
This policy explains how the Flags Easy Learning iOS app, its widgets and its App Clip (together, "the app") handle information. The app is made by Maxnxi ("we", "us"). If you have questions, write to maxnxi@icloud.com.
1. Data stored on your device
To remember your progress, the app saves the following on your iPhone or iPad:
- Progress: unlocked levels, which flags you have learned, accuracy per flag, streaks, daily trips and best scores.
- Player profiles: if you create players, the name you type for each one and whether it is a Little Explorer or Explorer profile. A name is optional, and a nickname works just as well.
- Settings: sound, theme and daily reminder time.
- Purchase status: which purchases and subscriptions are active, so the app can unlock them.
This data is kept in the app's storage, the iOS Keychain and an App Group container shared only with the app's own widgets. It is not uploaded to us or to any cloud service, and we cannot see it. The app does not use iCloud and does not sync between devices.
2. Widgets
The app offers several widgets:
- Passport: your streak.
- Flag of the Day.
- Atlas: your progress per continent.
- Flag Quiz: an interactive quiz. Your answers are saved on the device and added to the player's progress the next time the app opens.
- Daily Trip: a button for Control Center.
The widgets only read and write the shared App Group container on your device. They do not show player names and do not connect to the internet.
3. In-app purchases
The app is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases (extra hearts, Unlimited Hearts) and optional monthly or yearly subscriptions. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, payment details or Apple ID; Apple only tells the app which purchases are active. Every purchase is behind a parental gate. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Apple's handling of payments is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Usage statistics and crash reports
To learn which parts of the app are used and to fix problems, the app uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service by TelemetryDeck GmbH (Germany). It is the only third-party SDK in the app. TelemetryDeck processes this data for us under its privacy policy.
Usage statistics
Anonymous events are sent only while an Explorer profile (ages 8+) is active. While a Little Explorer profile is active, nothing is sent: no events and no session signals. The events are:
- a Daily Trip started or finished (score, streak length);
- a streak milestone reached;
- a practice round finished (mode, score);
- the Plus offer shown or tapped;
- a subscription purchased (monthly or yearly only, not the price or any payment data);
- which widget types are installed (at most once a day);
- a challenge link sent, opened or finished (won, tie or lost).
Events never contain player names, profile data, which flags were answered, contact details, location or advertising identifiers. Instead of a user ID, a random identifier for your installation is hashed on the device before it is sent. TelemetryDeck also adds technical information such as the app version, iOS version, device model and language and region settings.
Crash reports
When the app crashes, iOS can give the app a technical crash report on a later launch (Apple's MetricKit). The app forwards a short summary to TelemetryDeck: app version, iOS version, device model, the type of error and the places in the app's code where the crash happened. It contains no personal data. Crash summaries are sent for every installation, because they describe the app, not the player.
This data is not used for advertising and is not used to track anyone across apps or websites. We do not sell or share it, except with TelemetryDeck as our processor. Test and debug versions of the app send nothing.
5. App Clip and challenge links
After a practice round or Daily Trip, an Explorer can share a challenge link, for example https://maksraynor.com/flags-easy-learning/challenge?f=chad,romania,Japan&s=k3j9&c=7. The link contains only flag codes, a random number for the order of the answers and the sender's score. It contains no name or other personal data. You choose where to send it, for example in Messages.
The person who receives the link can play the challenge in an App Clip without installing the app. The App Clip stores nothing, asks for no permissions and sends no analytics. If the full app is installed, the link opens the app instead.
Opening the link in a browser loads a page from maksraynor.com. The website is hosted by Google (Firebase Hosting), which receives standard request data such as your IP address and the link that was opened. Google uses IP addresses to protect the service from abuse and to give us usage figures, and keeps IP data for a few months. The page also counts an anonymous page view with TelemetryDeck, without cookies.
6. Game Center
For Explorer profiles, the app can post best scores, the number of flags mastered and achievements to Apple Game Center, if you are signed in to Game Center on the device. Game Center is run by Apple under its own privacy policy; we do not receive your Game Center identity. Game Center is never used for Little Explorer profiles.
7. Other system features
- Daily reminder: off by default. If a grown-up turns it on, the app asks for permission to show notifications and schedules them locally on the device. Nothing is sent to a push server.
- Voice prompts: country names are spoken with Apple's on-device speech synthesis. The app does not use the microphone and does not record audio.
- Connection check: on iOS 15 and 16, the app may load a test page from apple.com to check that the device is online before showing the store. No data about you is sent.
- App Store: separately from the app's own crash summaries (section 4), Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us if you have agreed to share them with developers in iOS settings.
8. What we do not do
- We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across apps or websites. The only third-party SDK in the app is TelemetryDeck, for anonymous statistics (see section 4).
- We do not ask for location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
9. Children
Flags Easy Learning is designed for the whole family, including young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). Player names stay on the device and are never sent to us. No usage statistics are sent while a Little Explorer profile is active. Sharing a challenge is offered only in Explorer mode, and challenge links contain no names. Purchases, reminders and player management are protected by a parental gate so that a grown-up is involved.
10. Deleting your data
You can delete player profiles in the app. Deleting the app removes its data from your device; some purchase records kept in the iOS Keychain may remain until you restore purchases or reset the device. Purchase history is kept by Apple and can be viewed in your Apple ID settings.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. We do not hold personal data about you; your progress and player names are under your control on your device. The anonymous statistics described in section 4 cannot be linked to a person, so we cannot look them up for a particular user. You can still contact us with any question, and we will reply within 30 days.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the date at the top of this page. If the app ever starts collecting personal data, we will update this policy before that happens.
